US places no conditions on Clinton's Indian trip

E-Mail this report to a friend

The United States has not sought that any condition be met for President Bill Clinton to visit India, US Congressman Gary Ackerman said today.

Clinton will visit India at the earliest, while there are no plans for his Pakistan tour because the situation in that country has changed, the Democrat from New York told journalists. He said India and the United States should create enabling conditions for Clinton's visit.

Completely ruling out a visit to Pakistan by the US president, Ackerman said the elected government in that country was replaced by the gun.
