Ukraine to give 25 T-80 tanks to Pakistan

The former Soviet Republic of Ukraine will deliver 25 T-80 tanks, the last of a consignment of 320 tanks, to Islamabad by November.

Russian news agency Novosti today quoted Ukrainian military councillor Viktor Voronina as saying that Ukraine would thus fulfil its commitment to supply arms to Pakistan under an agreement signed a few years ago.

''The provisions of the agreement between the two states are being observed irrespective of the internal situation in the states concerned,'' said an Ukrainian defence official in Islamabad.

Novosti said Ukraine has also decided to manufacture medium-size guns for the Pakistani tanks within three to four years in collaboration with China.
