Bollywood heartthrob Madhuri Dixit marries Los Angeles surgeonMadhuri Dixit, one of Hindi cinema's leading actresses, tied the knot on October 17 with Dr Shriram Nene, a Los Angeles surgeon, breaking many a heart back home. It was an arranged marriage. Nene, born and brought up in Los Angeles, wed India's most eligible spinster in a quiet ceremony at the Los Angeles residence of her brother Ajit Dixit, her secretary and film producer Rakesh Nath said in Bombay this evening. Dixit, however, has no plan to quit the film industry, he confirmed. Madhuri Dixit was introduced to the silver screen by Rajshri Productions in 1984 through Abodh, but she hit the jackpot three years later with the superhit Tezaab. Thereafter, she followed it up with hits like Beta, Ram Lakhan and Dil, making her Bollywood's top heroine. Still bigger successes followed with Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Khalnayak and the recent Dil To Paagal Hai with Shah Rukh Khan and Karisma Kapoor. Dixit also did an offbeat role in Prakash Jha's Mrityudand. Fans have often compared her to yesteryear's peerless star, the late Madhubala. Currently, two of her films - artist M F Husain's Gajagamini and Boney Kapoor's Pukar -- are awaiting release while she has Deepak Shivdasani's Yeh Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke and K C Bokadia's Hum Aapke Hain Sanam under production.
