on 15 Corps headquarters killed

E-Mail this report to a friend

Bashir Ahmed Sofi in Srinagar

The army has gunned down two of the three militants who killed defence public relations officer Major P Purushottam and six others in a daring attack on the Indian Army's 15 Corps headquarters yesterday.

The hunt is on for the third Lashkar-e-Toiba militant, who is absconding, a senior army officer said at a press conference today. Among those killed are Lashkar's Srinagar district chief Abu Talha.

Giving details, Major General J R Mukherjee said the militants came in a bus and engaged a sentry posted at the cantonment board office. However, before soldiers at the main gate a few yards away could react, they crossed a small wall and entered the PRO office.
