Governor okays CBI prosecution of Yadav, Mishra

E-Mail this report to a friend

Bihar Governor Suraj Bhan has permitted the Central Bureau of Investigation to file a chargesheet in a case relating to the conspiracy in the fodder scandal against leading politicians of the state, including two former chief ministers, three ministers and several bureaucrats.

Suraj Bhan, who also holds gubernatorial charge in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, permitted the CBI to file charges against former chief ministers Laloo Prasad Yadav and Jagannath Mishra.

He gave his consent after reviewing the CBI's reports against the politicians and bureaucrats.

The chargesheet is likely to be filed in the designated CBI court in Patna shortly.

The CBI had sought permission from former Bihar governor Justice B M Lal and provided all the relevant papers on the matter one-and-a-half month ago. But before he could take a decision, he was superannuated.

Patna Raj Bhawan sources said the related documents had reached the governor's house here.

The CBI is also expected to seek the governor's nod in another case of disproportionate assets that has been pending against Yadav for a long time.
