BJP national executive will not discuss Kalyan's fate

E-Mail this report to a friend

Bharatiya Janata Party president Kushabhau Thakre today made it clear that the national executive of the party, beginning in New Delhi from tomorrow, would not discuss whether to replace Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh or not.

However, the party's debacle in the recent general elections in the state would be debated at the meeting, he toldUNI.

He said the situation needs correction but refused to say what steps were being contemplated. ''I cannot say now what concrete steps we are contemplating,'' he said.

Kalyan Singh, who is in the capital, will have a luncheon meeting with Home Minister L K Advani. The UP chief minister will also attend the two-day executive meeting.

Thakre said the national executive would draw up a balance between ''long-term perspective and short-term necessity plan.''

The emergence of post-poll political situation would be discussed threadbare with the above objective in view, he said.
