Uma Bharati promises government grant for Ram temple

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led government will not hesitate to grant special funds for the construction of a Ram temple at Ayodhya, on the lines of the grant for the tercentenary celebrations of the Khalsa at Anandpur Sahib, Union Minister of State for Sports Uma Bharati said in Patiala today.

Talking to reporters at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Bharati said protection of Kargil and the welfare of the people are as important as the construction of the Ram temple.

She said the birth of the Khalsa was a great historical event not only for the Sikhs, but for the entire country. Similarly, construction of the temple will be "a great event of national pride".

She denied that activists of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Vishwa Hindu Parishad were "feeling frustrated with the proposed agenda of the National Democratic Alliance".
