Laloo appears before CBI court in fodder scam caseFormer chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav today appeared before the CBI designated court in connection with two separate cases of the multi-crore rupee fodder scam. CBI special judge S K Lal fixed June 15 as the next date of hearing. The court, however, could not hear the case filed for amalgamation of the two conspiracy angle cases of the fodder scam. Besides Yadav, former Union minister Chandradev Prasad Verma, former state minister Bhola Ram Toofani and Congress legislator Jagdish Sharma also appeared before the court. Those who were produced from jail included senior IAS officers Mahesh Prasad, Beck Julius, K Arumugam and Phool Chand Singh (retired officer). Former chief minister Jagannath Mishra, former state minister Vidya Sagar Nishad, expelled BJP legislator Dhruv Bhagat, ruling RJD legislator R K Rana and senior IAS officer Sajal Chakraborty could not appear before the court. While one case was related to the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 370 million from Chaibasa treasury, the other related to illegal withdrawal of Rs 9.7 million from the Deoghar treasury. UNI
