Subject: The return of Sachin
This is in response to your article on Sachin returning to join the Indian team.
I just cannot understand how in hell can the board president ask Sachin whether he wants to go to the World Cup or not? Can anyone in his senses ask this question? Frankly, I can't.
It means that the team that we expect to win the World Cup is incompetent... What the hell is the skipper doing there? He's supposed to be the most crucial member of the team but his body language says something else He is lost in his own world. When he cannot get the team to work as a unit why is he the captain then? Look at what Hansie Cronje said, that it is team effort that kept his bunch going.
Sadly, that is what is missing in the Indian team... Without a team effort how can you expect to win the World Cup? I suppose the guys have forgotten that they are playing for the World Cup. Even in a street match guys play with such passion, hating to lose. Here is our national team looking like it has no passion. Probably to this Azhar may retort, 'What do you know about cricket, what we go through?'
That may be true, but results does he have to show?
It is utterly disgusting that even after losing the team management says everything is perfect. If losing matches regularly is perfect, I don't know what is imperfect.
Guys, remember you are playing for India. If this cannot inspire you, I don't know what will. I hope Azhar reads this.

Hi, there...
Knowing Sachin is going to return for the match on Sunday is really great. I feel the whole Indian cricket team should show greater responsibility now. My condolences to Sachin and his family. I wish we had more players like him.

Hats off to Sachin, especially after the events that have affected his life. Yet he chose to be with a team that cannot do anything without him. I'm amazed with this outstanding gesture and I'm sure India will qualify for the super six.
Kudos to Sachin.

Sachin's deed is what actually differentiates the men from the boys.
I wish we had few more like him. If only he could instil his killer instinct in his teammates too.

I'm impressed to learn that Sachin chose to leave for England, leaving his family at this troubled time. He is a patriot and the whole of India will appreciate this action, not to mention his confused and out-of-form captain.

I'm really surprised after reading the news .Not even three days after his father death, he's off to England? I can't believe his patriotism. I am really proud of him.
Still, the game is not over though we have some real hope here onwards. It is a team effort that should win us games. The main advantage of having Sachin is, of course, that he is a great batsman. He boosts to the team. Even If he scores 50, the team will get the confidence to win.
Good luck, India.

Hi,
First, let me offer condolences to you, Sachin, and may your father's soul rest in peace. It takes great pains to come to terms after you loose a person so dear as your father. I think only a great patriot like you can take such a decision to join the Indian team for the remaining matches.
I think no words are enough to praise you for your decision. It would be possible for only players like you and who put their national pride before their family. If the remaining 10 players have at least one per cent of the dedication you have we would have been a world beating side.
We are with you and hope you do well in the remaining matches.
Best of luck,
Prem

Dear Rediff,
It's a pity that a player is being forced to go back and play with a set of spineless fellows who lack even basic consideration. May god give Sachin the strength to play and redeem whatever pride is left.
Hope the other 10 take a cue from this great player's supreme commitment.

This guy is simply great. He has shown that he is not only a great sportsman but a greater patriot. How many in this team would have done it?
I hope his team colleagues will learn something from him, especially Azhar. Just representing India and winning in India isn't good enough, you have to play well outside your country too.
I am sure he will get over his father's death. Keep it up, Sachin, may god bless you with all the good things in life.

Shouldn't every Indian cricket fan/enthusiast/fanatic, be lining up to bow down and kiss this man's feet? He is my age and I can't imagine I would care about the 14 losers he left behind in England if I had something like this happen to me.
He is not too young to be prime minister, is he?
