It's sad news since Sachin is only 25. But, let's hope he regains his mental strength so that he can play for the main matches (in case India qualifies for them).

Let's pray for the best.

Subject: My condolences to the Tendulkar family

I was most grieved to hear this shocking news of the death of Sachin Tendulkar's father. I wish that God grants peace to the departed soul and convey my condolences to the grieved Tendulkar family. We all know very well that Sachin Tendulkar is one of the few great heroes of India (and my foremost idol) and this news must have come as such a big shock to the master blaster. I hope he handles it with great courage.

I really feel so sad. Like I have lost someone close to my family. Sachin is still like a kid to many of us. We know his father was a big inspiration for him. We all wish Sachin's family will have the strength to cope with this loss. What a tragedy for Sachin.

Extremely unfortunate incident. We all love Sachin. He is almost like our family member. I feel as if somebody in my family has died.

It will make a good excuse for Azhar to lose this World Cup though.

Subject: Sachin's father's demise

This is sad news. I personally express my condolence. May god give him enough strength to sustain this shock. But for India, he is the morale of our cricket team. His absence itself will reduce the team's confidence by 95 per cent. I personally feel he should play in this World Cup

Very sad. Both for Sachin and the country. Sachin, be brave, we are with you. The entire cricket loving Indians are behind you at this time of grief. We all wish that your father's soul rests in peace in heaven and you and your family find consolation.

You must come back to England at the earliest and see that India lifts the World Cup. This is the real tribute you would be paying to your dear father and I hope your father's soul will be watching you in that excellent moment of triumph.

Come back and blast your way to victory. Our heartfelt condolences to Sachin and his family

Subject: Soldier wanted

I am very disheartened by this news. Tendulkar will sure be in a state of shock after this news. But I want him to stay in England and play well and bring the World Cup to India. I know I am asking too much from him, but the whole country wants him to play. For Indians cricket is more than a game, if the team lose the match, the whole nation will lose their heart. Players are like soldiers, and soldiers don't come back from the battlefield for family reasons.

That's why I want Tendulkar to act like a soldier.

This is very sad news for Sachin and for the nation. We would have loved to see him play throughout the World Cup. But under such a situation, you can't really expect him to come back and play in the tournament.

Let's hope India will do well in his absence. All the best to the Indian team.
