Heat wave continues in North India

Heat wave conditions prevailed in Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh and in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, east Rajasthan, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Day temperatures were markedly above normal in parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Marathwada and north coastal Tamil Nadu.

They were appreciably above normal in central Maharashtra, parts of Gujarat region, interior Karnataka and in the remaining parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, east Rajasthan, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, and were above normal in parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa and of Kerala.

They were normal over the rest of the country outside Arunchal Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh from where the data were sparse.

Rain or thundershowers occurred at most places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, at many places in south interior Karnataka, at a few places in Kerala and at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan, West Bengal, Sikkim and Tamil Nadu.

Very light rain also occurred at isolated places in Rayalaseema. Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.

Rain or thundershowers are likely at many places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, the hills of west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, interior Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.
