Akalis throw Tohra out

Gurcharan Singh Tohra, a member of the Rajya Sabha and former president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, was today expelled from the Shiromani Akali Dal for six years for "anti-party activities".

The decision was taken by the party's political affairs committee, which met in Chandigarh this evening under the chairmanship of SAD president and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
