All the accused in the corruption cases, including former chief minister J Jayalalitha and some of her erstwhile ministerial colleagues, should cooperate for speedy disposal of the cases in view of the Supreme Court judgment upholding the state government's notification appointing special judges to try these cases, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi said today.

Reacting to the apex court's order, he told newsmen in Madras that the accused, at least from now on, should extend their cooperation for disposal of the cases without placing any further hurdles.

Asked whether he considered the court order as a legal victory for the state government, the chief minister said he did not want to feel happy or excited over the judgment and would like to await the final verdict in the cases.

"I do not know", he said when asked whether the BJP-led government at the Centre should regret issuing the notification seeking to transfer the cases to other ordinary courts, which was also quashed by the Supreme Court today.

Asked whether he thought there would be a re-thinking on the part of the Congress on forging alliance with the All India Anna DMK in the wake of the apex court order, Karunanidhi said he was not aware either about the thinking by the Congress or its rethinking.

He parried a question on the political implications in the wake of the judgment, saying, "I do not know".
