Major spy ring busted in Punjab, two cops arrestedThe Punjab police today busted a major spy ring in which two of their own men are involved in supplying sensitive military information to Pakistan intelligence agencies, besides smuggling weapons for terrorists in the state. According to a First Information Report registered with the C-division police station in Amritsar last night, of the ten members of the gang identified, two were arrested. It was reported that head constable Balwinder Singh of Harike police station and constable Jabal Singh were involved in the racket. The police arrested Nirmal Singh and Nishan Singh. Those still at large were Prem Singh, Satnam Singh, Ajit Singh, Jaswinder Singh alias Babbu, Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakh and Billa, besides two policemen. A case under Sections 411, 414, 467, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code, section 14 of the Foreigner's Act, Section 3 of the Official Secrets Act and Section 3/34/26 of the Indian Passport Act had been registered against them.
