Tushar Gandhi too may quit SP

E-Mail this report to a friend

Following the example of Hussain Dalwai and other leaders of the Maharashtra unit of his party, Samajwadi Party leader Tushar Gandhi, great grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, is likely to resign from the primary membership of the SP.

Tushar talked about the possibility of leaving the party for what he claimed to be 'differences of philosophy' with the high command.

''My basic aim in joining politics was to oppose the Sangh Parivar but the present party policy seems to be favouring the Parivar which has given rise to the differences,'' he said, adding that he believed in the socialist philosophy and principles of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia.

He said that he is likely to voice his dissent with party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and if his point was not met he would definitely quit the party.

Asked whether he would join any other party, he said he is yet to decide on the issue but would make up his mind soon.
