TMC will tie up with Congress: ChidambaramTamil Maanila Congress leader and former Union minister P Chidambaram has ruled out an electoral alliance with either the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam or the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham during the coming Lok Sabha elections. Addressing the media at Karaikudi last night, he said his party would have an electoral alliance with the Congress. However, it would not merge with the Congress though the ideals of the two parties were the same, he added. Disclosing that TMC president G K Moopanar had met Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi and apprised her of the political situation in Tamil Nadu, Chidambaram said Sonia had said that she would take a decision on having an electoral tie-up with the TMC after discussing it with other Congress leaders. Predicting that the Third Front, comprising non-DMK and non-AIADMK parties, led by the TMC in the state would emerge victorious in the polls, he said the Congress-TMC-Left combine would form a corruption-free, liberal and secular government at the Centre.
