Sonia blasts BJP

E-Mail this report to a friend

Congress president Sonia Gandhi today launched a frontal attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, saying that it was indulging in double-speak to misguide people. She ordered her partymen to visit every nook and corner of the country to sensitise the masses about the BJP's game plan.

Speaking at a function in New Delhi, Sonia said the BJP and its allies were playing petty politics to malign their opponents, especially the Congress.

Sonia said the BJP's double-speak was evident from the Sangh Parivar leaders' contradictory statements.

She said that only the Congress could provide a stable government at the Centre.

Severely criticising the Samajwadi Party for not allowing the Congress to fulfil its constitutional obligation, Sonia said that party kept its personal interest ahead of secularism.

Recent developments have proved that the Samajwadi Party had a secret deal with the communal forces led by the BJP, she said.

As for the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, ''it was an opportunist coalition and saving it was not the job of the Opposition parties'', she said.
