Pak denies 'controversial remarks' on Kashmir

E-Mail this report to a friend

Pakistan has denied reports that its Foreign Secretary Shamshad Ahmed had said that Islamabad was ready to consider options other than the legal framework provided by the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions for the settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir issue.

''The despatch reflects a poor understanding of the issue and, particularly, the consistent and principled position of Pakistan,'' a Pakistan high commissioner statement said.

The spokesman reiterated Pakistan's position that the just and final settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir issue must be in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
