Ten militants killed in encounter in ValleyTen militants and a security force jawan were among twelve people killed while one militant was arrested and another surrendered before the authorities in the Valley during the past 24 hours. A defence ministry spokesman said troops killed two militants in the Nowgam sector in Baramulla district in an encounter last evening. He said two AK 56 rifles, 13 magazines, 450 rounds, one wireless set, five grenades and Rs 19,000 were recovered from the slain militants. He said troops also gunned down a militant in the forest areas of Kupwara sector last evening. One Kalashnikov rifle, several magazines and rounds were recovered from the site of encounter. Forces killed two militants during a search operation at Sha-Gund Sumbal in Baramulla district last evening. Two AK rifles, three magazines, 32 rounds, two wireless sets and 12 grenades were recovered during the searches. He said militants fired upon a security force search party at Akramabad last evening. The forces returned fire and in the ensuing gun battle two militants belonging to the Lashkar-e-Toiba were killed. One security jawan lost his life and another was injured, he said adding that two AK rifles, four magazines and one wireless set were recovered from the slain militants identified as Mohammad Tariq and Irshad Ahmad.
