Boy makes thrilling escape from kidnappers in BombayA 14-year-old boy from Raipur in Madhya Pradesh has made a thrilling escape from his kidnappers and reached Nagpur after seven days. He was held captive in Bombay. The story of the escape of Shonu Nandlal Shugani, an eighth standard student of St Xaviers school, has all the elements of a Hindi thriller. The police said Shonu was kidnapped from the civil lines area in Raipur on April 23. His two kidnappers pushed him into a Maruti van, threatening him with a dagger. The duo brought him to Nagpur and then proceeded to Bombay. Quoting Shonu, the son of a hardware merchant, the police said the kidnappers, who were around 30 years old, kept him in a hut in Bombay and went out to purchase air tickets for Bangalore. Shonu, however, fled the spot before the kidnappers could return. He reached Dadar and boarded a train bound for Igatpuri, from where he took another train to Wardha. At Wardha, he boarded the Sewagram Express and reached Nagpur on Sunday morning. Shonu's father had already lodged a complaint with the Raipur police who alerted their counterparts in Nagpur and at other places. On reaching Nagpur, Shonu went to the railway enquiry office and narrated his story. The employees manning the counter took him to the police, who immediately informed his parents at Raipur and his relatives in Nagpur. According to Shonu, he made an abortive attempt to escape from the kidnappers from a forest hut near Nagpur where he was kept for some time. The police said the motive of the kidnappers was not known as they had made no demand for ransom. Shonu's grandmother had died of shock on learning of his kidnapping, the police said. UNI
