All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham legislator P R Sundaram today created a mild flutter in the state assembly. He was wearing a red helmet with a visor when he entered the house.

Sundaram was returning to the house after a week-long suspension. His action evoked widespread protests from the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazagham and the Tamil Maanila Congress members who wanted to know whether Sundaram wanted to convert the house into a cricket ground.

Sundaram then rose to say that his new gear was meant for self-protection. This was countered by the DMK and TMC members who wanted to know whether his attire was meant for self-protection or aggression on others in the house.

Speaker P T R Palanivel Rajan asked Sundaram to remove the helmet or face eviction from the house, forcing the MLA to remove the helmet.
