Flutter in AP assembly as MLA tries to consume pesticide

E-Mail this report to a friend

A ruling Telugu Desam Party member, S Madhusudhana Chary today caused a flutter in the state assembly when he attempted to consume pesticide. He was trying to highlight the plight of the cotton farmers in the state.

However, several ruling party members including Social Welfare Minister K Srihari along with the watch and ward staff snatched the bottle from him.

Chary then staged a brief sit-in in the well of the house.

He resumed his seat after Speaker Y Ramakrishnudu assured that he would be allowed to speak on the issue during the zero hour.

Earlier, the speaker disallowed an adjournment motion notice given by Chary and Y Krishna Reddy (independent) regarding the payment of ex-gratia to the cotton farmers who had committed suicide in Warangal district.
