Another Delhi journalist found murdered

Anil Rattan, a journalist, was found murdered in his house in the Jor Bagh area of south Delhi this morning.

The maidservant found the body when she came to the house at around 10am IST.

Smelling something foul, she searched the apartment and found Rattan's decomposed body in the bathroom, police said.

This is the third case of a journalist being killed in the capital in the past three months.

In January, Shivani, principal correspondent of The Indian Express, was found murdered in her apartment in east Delhi. The body of cartoonist Irfan Hussain was found in Ghazipur, bordering Ghaziabad, last weekend.

Police suspect that Rattan might have been murdered on Thursday night as the bundles of newspapers for March 19 and 20 were lying on the doorstep outside.

The body bore three stab wounds -- two in the neck and one in the abdomen. Anil was also strangled with a wire broken off from his air-conditioner.

The police have ruled out robbery as a motive. "No article has been stolen, including his ring which would be worth around Rs50,000, from the house. Only his wallet was missing," a police source said.
