RSS sees link between Sonia and Christian flareup

The Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh today said the entry of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi into politics and the flaring up of Christianity issue in the country could be related issues.

Ever since Gandhi came into active politics, "Christian organisations have been aggressive and the false propaganda against the Hindu organisations is mounting,'' RSS joint secretary K C Sudarshan told reporters in Lucknow.

He said acceptance of Congress presidentship by Gandhi coincided with the demographic decline of Christians in the West. This explains why she chose the timing of her entry into politics and that too at the time when the Bharatiya Janata Party was about to form the government at the Centre, he added.

Without naming the countries or the interested organisations, the senior RSS leader said it was clearly done at the behest of those who never wanted the BJP at the Centre. Instead, they desired the Congress to rule the country through Gandhi, he added. ''Never before was such a hue and cry raised by Christian organisations in the country like this. The presence of Gandhi could be the reason behind it,'' he said.

Sudarshan, in reply to a question, however, said no one can object if Gandhi heads the government as she had adopted Indian nationality.
