Heat wave rages in AssamSevere heat wave conditions prevailed in Assam and Meghalaya. Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in interior Orissa, Jammu, east Madhya Pradesh, coastal Andhra Pradesh and in parts of Nagaland, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar plains and of east Uttar Pradesh, and were above normal in Telangana, Tamil Nadu and in parts of coastal Orissa, west Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha. They were below normal in parts of Gujarat and Konkan. They were normal over the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal and west Uttar Pradesh from where the data were sparse. Night temperatures were appreciably below normal in southeast Rajasthan and in parts of west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Saurashtra and Kutch, and were below normal in parts of Rayalaseema and of Tamil Nadu. They were appreciably above normal in parts of Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, Bihar plateau and of east Madhya Pradesh, and were above normal in parts of east Uttar Pradesh, west Rajasthan and of south central Maharashtra. They were normal over the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh from where the data were sparse. Rain or thundershowers occurred at isolated places in Kerala. Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country. Rain or snow is likely at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir. Rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam, Meghalaya and south Tamil Nadu, and at isolated places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, coastal Orissa, Bihar plateau, north Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep. Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.
