E-Mail this report to a friend

Bookings began today for the Delhi-Lahore bus service, which will begin simultaneously from both ends on Tuesday, March 16.

Inaugurating the booking centre at the Ambedkar Stadium in the capital, Delhi Transport and PWD Minister Parvez Hashmi said passengers on the bus would have to get the normal passport and visa clearances. No passenger without a valid visa will be allowed on the bus.

Hashmi said the tickets, costing Indian Rs800 and Pakistani Rs950, include the cost of meals to be served during the twelve-hour journey.

Passengers will, however have to pay to use the mobile phone facility on the bus.

The super deluxe air-conditioned DTC buses, with video and channel music with earphones, will run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

The tickets can be bought at the Ambedkar Stadium terminus (Tel: 011-331-7445, extension 229), the Inter-State Bus Terminus at Kashmere Gate (Tel: 011-296-8836) and Scindia House, Connaught Place (Tel: 011-331-7445).
