Assam in the throngs of heat waveHeat wave conditions prevailed in Assam, Manipur, West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, Bihar plateau and south-east Madhya Pradesh, and in parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh. Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in Meghalaya, Tripura, the Bihar plains, the plains of west Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Vidarbha, Telangana and north Tamil Nadu, in the remaining parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, and in parts of east Uttar Pradesh, north Madhya Pradesh, Rayalaseema and of north interior Karnataka. They were above normal in the hills of west Uttar Pradesh, south Tamil Nadu, Kerala, in the remaining parts of Rayalaseema and in parts of central Maharashtra. They were appreciably below normal in south Gujarat, and were below normal in parts of Haryana, Punjab, north Gujarat and north Konkan. They were normal over the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh from where the data were sparse. Night temperatures were markedly below normal in parts of Tamil Nadu, and were appreciably below normal in the remaining parts of Tamil Nadu. They were below normal in Punjab and southwest Rajasthan. They were appreciably to markedly above normal in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, the Bihar plateau, Kashmir, east Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha, and in parts of north Rajasthan, Marathwada and of interior Karnataka. Night temperatures were above normal in east Uttar Pradesh and in parts of Haryana, west Madhya Pradesh, north Gujarat and of south Telangana. They were above normal or normal over the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh from where the data were sparse. Rain or snow occurred at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh. Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country. Rain or snow is likely at isolated places in the hills of west Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Sikkim, coastal Orissa, south Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep. Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.
