Heat wave spreads across North IndiaHeat wave conditions prevailed in Orissa, the Bihar plateau, the plains of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of Manipur, Himachal Pradesh, east Rajasthan, and coastal Andhra Pradesh. They were also above normal in West Bengal, Sikkim, west Rajasthan, Gujarat, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka and Kerala. Day temperatures were appreciably below normal only in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. They were normal in the rest of the country barring Arunachal Pradesh, from where data were sparse. Night temperatures were appreciably below normal in some parts of Tamil Nadu. They were also below normal in parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and the remaining parts of Tamil Nadu. But night temperatures were markedly above normal in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and parts of Haryana and Rajasthan. They were appreciably above normal in some parts of Assam, Bihar, the plains of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region and central Maharashtra. Night temperatures were above normal in parts of Orissa, Saurashtra, and Kutch. They were normal in the rest of the country barring Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir and coastal Karnataka from where data were sparse. Rain or snow fell at most places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir. Rain or thundershowers fell at a few places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Punjab. Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country. Rain or snow is likely to fall at many places in the hills of west Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir. Rain or thundershowers are likely to fall at a few places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Haryana, Punjab, north-west Rajasthan and at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, the plains of west Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep. Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.
