Nawaz Sharief to visit US in June

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharief will visit the United States in June, the Daily Dawn has reported, quoting the premier's brother Shahbaz Sharief.

Shahbaz, the chief minister of Punjab, is currently visiting the US.

''I will also accompany the prime minister in June,'' said Shahbaz, who has held delicate negotiations with the American administration and international financial institutions on his brother's behalf.

His high profile contacts in Washington were recently criticised by the Opposition in Pakistan as encroachment on the foreign ministry's domain, and as a domineering role of the premier's home province in the state affairs.
