Heat wave arrives in Western India

Moderate heat wave conditions prevailed in Saurashtra and Kutch, and in parts of north Konkan.

Day temperatures were markedly above normal in parts of Assam and Kashmir and were appreciably above normal in parts of Gangetic West Bengal, west Rajasthan and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

They were above normal in Sikkim, Orissa, east Rajasthan, Gujarat, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka and Kerala.

They were below normal in parts of Vidarbha and south interior Karnataka, and were normal over the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab from where the data were sparse.

Night temperatures were appreciably below normal in parts of Assam, Manipur, Orissa, Bihar plains and of east Madhya Pradesh and were below normal in the Bihar plateau and in parts of Punjab, east Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha and Tamil Nadu.

They were markedly above normal in parts of Saurashtra and Kutch and of south central Maharashtra, and were appreciably above normal in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, west Rajasthan and Gujarat.

They were above normal in parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Kashmir, west Madhya Pradesh, north central Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa, coastal Andhra Pradesh and in the remaining parts of Tamil Nadu. They were normal over the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh from where the data were sparse.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country. Rain or snow is likely at a few places in Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh.

Rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and at isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Haryana, Punjab, west Rajasthan, Saurashtra and Kutch, south central Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, north interior Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.
