India wants to strengthen relationship with neighbours without losing any territory: PM

E-Mail this report to a friend

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has said the country was prepared to resolve its problems with Pakistan and China through dialogue and in the spirit of ahimsa (non-violence).

Inaugurating a function of the Bhagwan Mahavir Kendra and Museum in Delhi, he said India wanted to strengthen its relationship with its neighbours without losing any territory. ''We have been attacked many times in the past and lost territories. We will not let this happen in future,'' he said.

Friendship and co-existence are the keys to the future, he said.

The nuclear tests by India and Pakistan were dictated by their security requirements. Indian policies would be dictated by self-confidence and not out of weakness, he said.
