CMs' conference to discuss Kargil on July 7

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Centre today decided to convene a conference of chief ministers on July 7 to discuss the Kargil crisis.

Announcing the cabinet decision, Information and Broadcasting Minister Pramod Mahjan told newsmen that the decision of calling the CMs' meeting was taken at yesterday's all-party meeting.

Replying to a question, he said the Cabinet did not discuss the issue of convening a special session of Rajya Sabha at its meeting today.

Various political parties, including Congress, AIDMK and CPI, have demanded a special session of the Rajya Sabha. However, BJP and its allies, National Congress Party and former prime minister Chandrashekhar have opposed the idea.
