Monsoon hits Saurashtra, Kutch... hard!Heavy rains are likely at isolated places in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, south Rajasthan, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka and Kerala during the next 48 hours. The Southwest monsoon has been vigorous in Saurashtra and Kutch and active in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Konkan and Goa and Kerala, at many places in Assam, Meghalaya, Orissa, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat region, central Maharashtra and coastal Karnataka, at a few places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Bihar plains, the hills of west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha, and at isolated places in Gangetic West Bengal, Haryana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and interior Karnataka. Very light rain also occurred at isolated places in Marathwada and Rayalaseema. Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country. Rain or thundershowers are likely at many places in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, the hills of west Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, south Rajasthan, Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, coastal Karnataka and Kerala, at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, plains of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, north Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep, and at isolated places over the rest of the country. Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in parts of northwest Rajasthan. They were appreciably below normal in parts of Punjab and were below normal in parts of Haryana.
