Two killed, four injured in Pak shelling in JammuAt least two persons were killed and four others, including a woman, injured in unprovoked shelling and firing by Pakistani troops in the Poonch and Palanwalla sectors. An official spokesman said Pakistani troops used artillery and mortar fire on Indian positions in the Poonch sector last evening. A shell landed on a house, killing the owner Mohammad Sharief at Swajian village. A schoolboy, Irshad Ahmad, of the same village was injured. The spokesman said Pakistani troops also opened fire from across the border in Palanwalla area of Jammu this morning. The firing followed by shelling on Indian positions resulted in the death of a man called Amar Singh. A woman, Naseema, a police constable and a civilian, Ghulam Rasool, were injured in cross-border firing by Pakistani troops in the Poonch sector last evening. All three were admitted to hospital. Official sources said intermittent shelling from across the border in Gurez, Machil, Uri and other northern sectors has been going on for the past few days. But there are no reports of any casualties or damage to property. Meanwhile, five persons, including two terrorists, were killed and a large cache of arms and ammunition, including grenades, mortar shells and remote-control devices, was captured in overnight operations across the Kashmir valley. An official spokesman said security forces killed two terrorists during a search operation at Duroo in the south Kashmir district of Anantnag last evening. He said terrorists gunned down two persons in their homes at Laa village while a truck conductor was killed at Mahore last night. UNI
