Mercury soars in Kashmir

Heavy rains are likely at isolated places in West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, the Bihar plateau, east Madhya Pradesh, Konkan, Goa, east Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal Karnataka and Kerala during the next 48 hours.

The Southwest monsoon has been active in Konkan and Goa and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Rain or thundershowers occurred at most places in Orissa and Kerala, at many places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and coastal Karnataka , at a few places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Sikkim, the Bihar plateau, hills of west Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha and south interior Karnataka, and at isolated places in east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Telangana, Rayalaseema and north interior Karnataka.

Very light rain also occurred at isolated places in Saurashtra and Kutch.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.

Rain or thundershowers are likely at most places in Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar plateau, east Madhya Pradesh, Konkan and Goa, coastal Karnataka and Kerala, at many places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar plains, Gujarat, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Lakshadweep, at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, east Uttar Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra, Kutch, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, Rayalaseema and interior Karnataka, and at isolated places over the rest of the country outside west Rajasthan where the weather will be mainly dry.

Heat wave conditions prevailed in Kashmir.

Day temperatures were above normal in parts of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.

They were appreciably below normal in the remaining parts of Haryana, and were below normal in parts of the hills of west Uttar Pradesh.

They were normal over the rest of the country outside Rajasthan from where the data was sparse.
