NCP joins hands with SP

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Nationalist Congress Party and the Samajwadi Party today struck an electoral alliance for the coming Lok Sabha elections due in September-October and resolved to form a stable third front committed to maintain equi-distance from both the Congress and the BJP.

The decision of the poll tie-up was taken at a meeting of NCP chief Sharad Pawar and SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav at the latter's residence.

Modalities of the alliance will be worked out in their next meeting.

Pawar and Yadav, at a joint press conference, said that they would hold talks with like-minded parties shortly to provide a viable third alternative at the earliest.
