Kerala floods claim 24 livesLife in flood-hit Kerala is limping back to normalcy as the toll touched 24 yesterday. Heavy rains, which have been lashing the state for the past 12 days, abated. Official sources said one person was drowned at Kuttampuzha village in Ernakulam district. At least 39 people, including 14 children, have been injured in rain-related incidents since the onset of the south-west monsoon on May 25. The sources said that, following the improvement in the situation, several families staying in relief camps have returned home. About 10,770 families were still housed in 304 relief camps. As many as 580 houses were destroyed and 8,372 houses damaged partially in heavy rains. UNI
