AP coast may get heavy rains due to depression in BayThe low-pressure area lying over the west-central Bay of Bengal yesterday became well marked today and is likely to concentrate into a depression. According to the Cyclone Warning Centre in Visakhapatnam, under the influence of the depression, rain is likely at many places in coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next 36 hours. One or two places may even get heavy rains. Strong winds from the north-west, with speeds reaching 50 kph, are likely along and off coastal Andhra Pradesh in the same period, the centre added. Heavy rain has also been forecast at isolated places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka and Kerala in the next 48 hours. Rain or thundershowers occurred at most places in Konkan, Goa, Rayalaseema and Kerala, at many places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Orissa, west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, coastal and north interior Karnataka, at a few places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, the Bihar plateau, east Madhya Pradesh, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, south interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep, and at isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, east Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. Very light rain also occurred at isolated places in the plains of Bihar. Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country. Rain or thundershowers have been forecast at most places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, at many places in West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, Bihar, east Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep, at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, east Uttar Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu, and at isolated places in the rest of the country barring the hills of west Uttar Pradesh, west Rajasthan, Saurashtra and Kutch where the weather will be mainly dry. Heat wave conditions prevailed in some parts of Kashmir. Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and above normal in some parts of Haryana, east Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh.
