Monsoon spreads through the country

Heavy rain is likely to fall at isolated places in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka and Kerala in the next 48 hours.

The south-west monsoon has become active in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Kerala.

Rain or thundershowers fell at many places in the Konkan, Goa, Marathwada, coastal Karnataka and at a few places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam, Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, south interior Karnataka, and Lakshadweep, and at isolated places in central Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.

Very light rain fell at isolated places in Punjab and west Madhya Pradesh.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.

Rain or thundershowers are likely at most places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka and Kerala, at many places in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, east Madhya Pradesh, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha and interior Karnataka, at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, the plains of Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Lakshadweep, and at isolated places in the rest of the country barring south Rajasthan, Saurashtra and Kutch where the weather will be mainly dry.

Day temperatures were above normal in some parts of Saurashtra.

They were appreciably below normal in some parts of west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, west Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh, and below normal in the remaining parts of Haryana and Punjab.
