Enquiry ordered into alleged rape by BSF officer

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Border Security Force has ordered a departmental inquiry into the allegation of rape by a BSF sub-inspector.

A BSF spokesman said reports had appeared in local newspapers regarding the alleged rape of a woman at Maisuma camp yesterday by the BSF official. The matter was investigated but the allegations could not be substantiated, he said.

However, a departmental inquiry has been ordered into the matter, he said.

Meanwhile business activities in Civil Line areas including Maisuma, Badshah Chowk, Lal Chowk, Kokerbazar and adjacent areas came to halt in protest against the alleged rape.

Reports of stone pelting on passing vehicles in the Civil Line areas were also received.

Demonstrators alleged that the BSF official took the victim to his camp by promising to give her a job and raped her.
