CBI to quiz Laloo Yadav tomorrowThe Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will quiz Rashtriya Janata Dal president Laloo Prasad Yadav here tomorrow for the second time in connection with a case of disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 42.52 lakh. Official sources said today that Laloo Yadav would be interrogated at the CBI state headquarters here during the early hours. The CBI had quizzed him earlier on October 21, 1998. The CBI had also interrogated Rabri Devi, Bihar chief minister and wife of Laloo Yadav twice on May 20 and 27 for ninety minutes each. During the first interrogation, the former chief minister had disclosed that he had taken as loan some of the amount declared as disproportionate, from his wife for running a dairy farm. The CBI sleuths had asked for a second interrogation of Laloo Yadav to cross-examine the facts disclosed by his wife. The agency was also finalising the charge-sheet to be filed in the case. The CBI had also quizzed former union minister, Kanti Singh, on May 28 in the same case. Singh, who happened to be close to the family of the chief minister, was shown some papers by the agency officials during her 25-minute interrogation. The agency filed the case of the disproportionate assets against Laloo Yadav on August 19,1998 and raided the chief minister's residence and other residences of their close relatives on August 21 last year. Meanwhile, a three-member team of the Central Vigilance Commission is assessing the value of the immovable property of Laloo Yadav in different parts of the state. The CVC team was requisitioned by the CBI to assess the real value of the property declared by the RJD chief in his income tax return. UNI
