Bhatia files 'FIR' against chief secretary

E-Mail this report to a friend

Pune Municipal Commissioner Arun Bhatia has taken up cudgels against Maharashtra Chief Secretary Arun Bongirwar.

A five-page document, allegedly a first information filed by Bhatia at the Deccan Gymkhana police station in Pune against Bongirwar, was circulated to the media yesterday by the office of the municipal commissioner.

Although the document bore yesterday's date, Police Commissioner K K Kashyap denied having registered any such complaint.

The document charges the chief secretary with illegally approving contracts worth Rs 20 million for road construction while serving as Pune municipal commissioner.

Bhatia said he was writing separately to the government of Maharashtra to suspend Bongirwar or shift him from his post until investigations are complete.

Meanwhile, the state government has ordered an Anti-Corruption Bureau investigation into an alleged land deal involving Bhatia. He has allegedly shown undue favours to a real estate agent when had served as Pune divisional commissioner.
