Four killed in Assam

E-Mail this report to a friend

Bodo militants hacked to death four tribals, including a six-month-old baby, and kidnapped 10 others at Thaibari near Bogoribari in Dhubri district yesterday.

The police, who received information about the killings late last night, recovered four bodies this morning.

Ten people who had gone to the Mengaldar market were taken away forcibly by the militants to a nearby jungle and allegedly killed, the police said. Their bodies were yet to be recovered.

Security in both Dhubri and the more vulnerable Gosaigaon sub-division of Kokrajhar district has been tightened.

Senior police and civil officials have rushed to the spot and launched a combing operation to arrest the militants and locate the remaining bodies.
