Anna TDP ties up with NCP, SPAttempts by the Left and other smaller parties to form a third front as an alternative to the ruling Telugu Desam Party and the Congress in Andhra Pradesh have run into rough weather with the Anna Telugu Desam announcing an alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party and the Samajwadi Party. The ATDP's decision to align with the NCP has been frowned upon by the Communist Party of India-Marxist. CPI-M state secretary B V Raghavulu has ruled out the possibility of having the NCP in the proposed third front. Raghavulu said ATDP leader Nandamuri Harikrishna's announcement had put a spoke in the efforts to form a third front. As talks between the Communist Party of India and the CPI-M over a possible tie-up continued, speculation was rife that the former was planning to have an understanding with the Congress.
