Ex-President S D Sharma suffers severe heart attack

Former President Shankar Dayal Sharma, who was admitted to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi following a severe heart attack, was stable but not out of danger, doctors said today.

Dr Sharma, 80, had some complications after he suffered the heart attack late last night, but there were no fresh problems in the last few hours, doctors at the cardio-coronary unit said.

His pulse and blood pressure were being maintained and he was breathing on his own.

President K R Narayanan and his wife Usha and Vice-President Krishan Kant visited the hospital to inquire about Dr Sharma's health.
