Samata, Janata politicians join RJD

E-Mail this report to a friend

The ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal in Bihar got a shot in the arm today when former Samata Party member of Parliament Shakuni Chowdhury and former Rajya Sabha member and Janata Dal politician Wasim Ahmed joined it.

Welcoming them at a function in Patna, RJD president Laloo Prasad Yadav said their entry would strengthen the party in fighting "communal forces".

Addressing the gathering, Chowdhury said the Samata Party's senior leaders were merely interested in gaining personal mileage and dedicated leaders were feeling neglected.

Wasim Ahmed, a close confidant of former prime minister V P Singh, said Yadav was the only person who could thwart the design of the communal forces to destabilise the country.
