Four killed in Pak sectarian violence

E-Mail this report to a friend

Four members of the Muslim fundamentalist Jamaat-i-Islami were shot dead and three others were wounded when unknown gunmen attacked their house in a village near Shikarpur town in southern Pakistan's Sindh province, reports said today.

The incident resulted in the deaths of three brothers and a son of one of the brothers, villagers said.

''Unknown gunmen entered the house last morning and resorted to indiscriminate firing on the residents that killed four on the spot and injured three others,'' one villager said.

Those killed include Abdul Karim, his son Abdul Shakoor and Karim's two brothers. The victims belonged to the Mangrio tribe and were members of the Jamaat-i-Islami.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack but the police suspect tribal enmity was behind the murders.
