E-Mail this report to a friend

The Delhi police arrested a woman doctor and her husband Tuesday for stealing cars from posh localities.

Five stolen cars, 14 fake registration certificates and other documents and a computer, used to make duplicate registration certificates, were recovered from their residence at R K Puram in South Delhi.

The police said Jyoti alias Anita, a dental surgeon and trained nurse from Patna, and husband Ram Kishen, a property dealer of 'bad character' from Vasant Vihar, operated with their accomplice and middleman Lovesh Sen. The car would be first brought to their R K Puram residence. Ram Kishen would prepare duplicate papers, after which it would sold to unsuspecting customers.

Ram Kishen also ran a hotel in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, the police said.

During preliminary interrogation, the couple disclosed that they were arrested in Patna last year and had incurred heavy losses in their business on legal proceedings. To compensate, they resorted to stealing cars.

Lovesh Sen is also in police custody.
