E-Mail this report to a friend

India and China will hold two-day foreign office level consultations from tomorrow in Beijing.

Giving this information to the Lok Sabha today, External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh told Tathagat Satpathy during question hour that these consultations would be the first in the framework of the protocol on cooperation between the ministry of external affairs of India and the ministry of foreign affairs of China, concluded in August 1997.

He said the Indian government is taking necessary steps to improve our relations through resumption of dialogue with China. ''We seek good relations with all our neighbours, including China,'' he said, and added that ''India remains committed to the development of friendly, cooperative, good neighbourly and mutually beneficial relationship with China.''
