Arun Gawli externed from Bombay

Gangster-turned-self-styled-politician Arun Gawli was today externed from Bombay city limits and the adjoining Thane district by the Bombay police.

The order came into effect at 1310 hours today and as per the orders of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Dr K Venkateshan, he was picked up from his bastion 'Dagdi Chawl' at Byculla in south-central Bombay and whisked away.

The city police is tight-lipped about Gawli's whereabouts. A close watch will be maintained by the Bombay police over the activities of the gangster, sources said.
